AndBang, also called "&!", is a Node.js app that helps teams to communicate quickly and effectively with each other. Team members can list their present status so their teammates know what one other is working on. AndBang intends to do away with the question, "So, what are you working on?" There are intuitive chat features as well. Teams can log into AndBang and check on their teammates' presences to see if they are online or not. Essentially, AndBang is an app that virtual teams can use to collaborate more effectively with each other.Show more screenshots »
AndBang is developed and maintained by a software company called AndYet, based out of Richland, Washington. This is a relatively new company and there isn't much information about them available online. Certainly they hope to change that though with the advent of applications like AndBang.
AndBang is unique in its fresh, modern appearance and its shortcut keys. By typing "!" one can complete a project. By typing "a" one can make a task active, and so on. Also, it updates automatically in the background so users hardly ever have to move their hands from the keyboard to use this application. Compared to other collaboration tools like instant messengers or cloud-based office suites, AndBang makes it easy to share the status of a team, without having to initiate much dialogue or ask too many questions. It is a good productivity tool that should make teams more efficient if they incorporate AndBang into their work environment.
AndBang is great for busy teams. One nice feature is that it saves everything automatically in the background so team members can list details on a task and not have to worry about clicking the save button. The layout of AndBang is fun, energetic and intuitive. When tasks are completed, users just click on the "Ship It!" icon and the task is marked complete and a note is automatically relayed to the rest of the team that a product is finished. Additionally, AndBang has shortcuts built in and Mac users could download an additional plugin called Fluid App! to make using AndBang even easier.
Registration requires one to input their name, username, email and password. Then they can input their team name. From there AndBang guides one through the basics of using their product by showing them how to add a task, complete a status update and other basic operations of the site. When teams grow beyond 2 users they can upgrade their plan to include additional team members.
AndBang is free for teams of 2. This is a good value. It costs $10/ month for each additional team member. For larger teams, AndBang may be a too costly solutions. There are other application that do essentially the same thing and more and cost less. For example, Sametime or Mircrosoft Communicator are basically the same idea, built around an instant messaging client.
AndBang is great for teams of two since it's free. It is also useful for larger teams, however, there are other collaboration tools out there that essentially do the same thing and are free or less expensive. For teams who have issues staying on the same page and want a single place to collaborate, that is web-based and more of a "wall" format (vs. a chat client) then AndBang could be the solution for them.
